The Week In-between

This week you’re hearing from one of the cast - the small blonde one with telescopes for eyes. We’ve finished up with previews week and last-minute tweaking rehearsals; Hurricane Hands’ time in Bristol is over! Most of the cast and crew, myself included, are enjoying a well deserved rest this week before the frenzy of Edinburgh begins. The last month has been an intense experience for everyone involved. We’ve had a six night run at the Alma Tavern Theatre, a minor heatwave and countless rehearsals. All the hard work has been worth it, and we are all incredibly proud of the show that will be arriving in Edinburgh in five days (!) This will be my first Edinburgh Fringe as a performer and a month-long run is a daunting prospect. A month of fringe madness even without the show would be an endurance test, so I am trying to prepare myself as best I can with lots of yoga and naps. In the last day or two, the reality of what we are about to do has hit, and it is a huge undertaking. As a performer, this show is physically demanding. Seeing how we have all improved our fitness and flexibility throughout this process has been great, but what we need now is oodles of stamina! Hurricane Hands is high, high energy and being able to deliver those levels on every show is a challenge I know we will tackle. Taking care of our bodies, of our voices and of our minds is more important than ever! So for now, it’s early nights and lots of tea. Despite all that, I know it will be a fantastic month for all of us. We are all excited to get up there and get this show on the road. Children’s Theatre is so much fun to perform and I’m looking forward to getting all of our smaller audience members’ reactions!

It is really not long until we are performing every day at 10.15am, August 4th-28th at the Laughing Horse @ The Free Sisters, Venue 272 (So smoothly done, I know…) So please spread the word and come and see us, the show is 100% free and half an hour of great storytelling.
